CITY OF SEAT PLEASANT-SPECIAL ELECTION
NOTICE TO FILL VACANCY FOR
COUNCILMEMBER WARD II
In accordance with the City of Seat Pleasant City Charter, each candidate to fill a vacancy shall file certificate of candidacy, Financial Disclosure Statement, and Registered voter petitions that satisfies the requirements of Section C-610, which shall include the names and signatures of at least 20 registered voters in the City of Seat Pleasant, which must be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk by 5:00 PM ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2025. NO EXCEPTIONS. Once voter qualifications have been verified, qualified candidates will be notified of certification to run for the petitioned office.
§ C-302 Qualifications of COUNCILPERSONS
Councilpersons shall have resided in the City for at least one year immediately preceding their election and shall have been qualified registered voters of the City for one (1) year. Councilpersons shall maintain a permanent residence in the City during their term of office. The minimum age for City Councilpersons shall be twenty-five years of age.
Voter Registration Application
Seat Pleasant residents may obtain a Maryland Voter Registration Application at the City of Seat Pleasant City Hall, 6301 Addison Rd., Seat Pleasant, MD from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday – Friday. You may access voter registration information at the State Board of Elections at www.elections.maryland.gov or the Prince George’s County Board of Elections at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov.
In order to vote in City elections, you must be a resident registered to vote in accordance with the regulations of Prince George’s County and the City’s Charter. Every person who is registered with the County Board of Elections and is a resident of the City of Seat Pleasant shall be entitled to vote in all City elections.
Seat Pleasant Special Election Day will be held Friday, January 16, 2026.
