Department Feedback
The Seat Pleasant Police Department (SPPD) values community feedback and has established a comprehensive process for handling both compliments and complaints. Residents can submit their feedback through our website, by phone, or in person at the police station. Complaints are thoroughly investigated in accordance with the Maryland Police Accountability Act of 2021, which established the Police Accountability Board (PAB) and the Administrative Charging Committee (ACC).
When a complaint is received, it is forwarded to the PAB, which reviews the complaint and ensures it is investigated by the appropriate law enforcement agency. The ACC then reviews the investigation findings, determines whether the officer should be administratively charged, and recommends appropriate discipline. This process ensures transparency and accountability in police conduct. Compliments are equally important to us; they are documented and shared with the respective officers and their supervisors, contributing to their performance evaluations. Our goal is to foster an open dialogue with the community, ensuring that all voices are heard and that we continually improve our services to better serve Seat Pleasant.

The Seat Pleasant Police Department (SPPD) offers an Online Complaint Portal designed to enhance transparency and keep the community informed. Once a complaint is submitted through the portal, it is logged and tracked throughout the investigation process. Community members can access the portal to stay updated on the status of their complaint, including which stage of the investigation it is currently in. This system ensures that complainants are kept informed and can see that their concerns are being addressed in a timely and thorough manner. The portal is part of our commitment to accountability and open communication with the residents of Seat Pleasant.
