Garry Jones Bio
Garry Jones was elected on September 9th, 2024, as Councilmember for Ward V, becoming the second member of his family to serve as Councilmember for the City.
Garry is a proud native of Prince George’s County Maryland and a graduate of the public school system. Mr. Jones attended Bowie State University. He brings with him a wealth of experience in Finance, Payroll, and Human Resources with over 40 years’ experience as a Payroll Manager for several national and international organizations, his financial expertise is an asset to the city council.
Garry Jones is a dedicated and longstanding resident of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, having moved to the city in 1967. With a strong commitment to his community, he has been an active participant in local governance, regularly attending city council meetings. Mr. Jones desires to increase civic and public engagement, believing that strong involvement from residents and businesses will lead to a more resilient and prosperous city. Mr. Jones chaired the Seat Pleasant Ethics Commission for the past two years and serves as the Treasurer of the Citizens for Public Safety Advisory Council (CPAC). Mr. Jones has been actively involved with CPAC for the past five years.
Councilmember Jones is the chair of Environmental Justice and Transportation and a committee member of Finance and Budget, and Public Safety.
